Origins and History
Radio Maria Uganda is under one Umbrella of World Family of Radio Maria Association. It is a “gift from God” given through the Blessed Virgin Mary to the Catholic Church. It is a presence of motherly love in our families and a guiding light in our journey of FAITH. Every day, as you go deeper and deeper
into the peace that only the Word of God can give, you pray, you learn, you grow and you become.
It was first established in Mbarara Archdiocese as a parish radio by Fr. Bashobora in 1996. However, later on, Fr. John Scalabarini began its extension program country wide and on 1st May 2001, Radio Maria Uganda began to operate in Kampala archdiocese, at Mutungo- Luzira as Headquarters, with substations in Mbarara (105.4 FM), Mbale (101.8FM), Gulu (105.7 FM) and booster station in Fort Portal (104.6 FM).
Over the years Radio Maria Uganda has undergone several successful development expansion programs. More substations in Nebbi (90.5 FM), Hoima (90.7 FM) and booster stations in Masaka (94.0 FM) and Lira (91.2 FM) have been established
There is a prospective project of expansion of booster stations to Moroto and Kabale areas
